When I reached my 50’s, I began to suffer from insomnia mostly due to stress, anxiety and the normal decrease in estrogen that we women get at this age. Sleep disorders, and the hormonal imbalance along with genetics and age factors ultimately contributed to my weight gain, and thereafter I was diagnosed with prediabetes.

After seeing my health at risk, I decided to make changes in my lifestyle. In 2018, I began a comprehensive health and wellness plan with the help of my primary physician and my nutritionist, who taught me how to eat organic foods and advised me take brief walks on a daily basis. In addition, I started experimenting with mindfulness practices, restorative yoga exercises and relaxation techniques to reduce my stress and anxiety.
